Airbus Defence and Space has completed the acquisition of German company infodas, a provider of cybersecurity and IT solutions for defense and critical infrastructures.
The acquisition, announced in March, comes as Airbus improves its cybersecurity capabilities and expertise to protect its products, operations, customers and ecosystem from threats in an increasingly digitalized and connected defense and aerospace networks.
With infodas now a subsidiary, Airbus expects to strengthen its cybersecurity portfolio for its European and global customers, said Karen Florschuetz, executive vice president of connected intelligence at Airbus Defence and Space.
Airbus is developing a next-generation combat jet for Europe’s Future Combat Air System program, which aims to have manned jets collaboratively fly alongside remotely piloted carriers.
According to the company, innovations in artificial intelligence, big data processing and cyber will help make defense a truly collaborative mission.
Early this year, Airbus was in talks with Atos to buy the latter’s cybersecurity division BDS for $1.97 billion but decided not to pursue the planned acquisition.
