UK Joins Indo-Pacific Military Exercises to Support Regional Security, Stability

The British Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and Royal Marines participated in recent multinational Indo-Pacific military exercises as part of U.K. support for the region’s security and stability.

The U.K. government said it sent forces to operate alongside close to 30 international allies in their deployments, which included participation in Exercise Predators Run held from July 15 to Aug. 8. During the exercise’s activities on the beaches of Northern Australia, Royal Marines Commandos shared their amphibious warfighting capabilities with military forces from Australia, the United States and the Philippines.

In the Rim of the Pacific exercises of 29 allied countries held in Hawaii from June 27 to Aug. 1, the RAF flew two patrol P-8A Poseidon aircraft to demonstrate surveillance missions, anti-submarine warfare, and search and rescue.

The RAF is participating in India’s Tarang Shakti multinational air exercise with its 130 personnel, six Eurofighter Typhoons, two Voyager refueling tankers and an A400M transport aircraft.

The Royal Navy maintains a U.K. presence in the Indo-Pacific by deploying HMS Spey and HMS Tamar in the region’s waters. London also announced that the RN’s Prince of Wales Carrier Strike Group will be deployed in the region’s 2025 exercises.
