Elbit Systems of America has named Robert Roughsedge its new vice president of business development.
Roughsedge, who announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post, joined the company after serving as a vice president at Leidos, where he led strategic captures. Before Leidos, he spent over six years as director of business development and strategy at L3 Technologies. The executive also held leadership positions at Textron Systems, including vice president of precision weapons, vice president of business development and strategy director.
During his tenure at Textron, he shaped customer requirements, resulting in Air Force Research Labs using Textron AirLand Scorpion jet for testing of weapons and systems; led capture efforts of several large Department of Defense contracts; and designed a business development plan that increased the company’s international sales to 50 percent of its revenue, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Roughsedge, a U.S. Army veteran, was a partner at Lawson & Weitzen and an adjunct faculty member at Suffolk University Law School, where he developed a course based on his background in counterterrorism and current events.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration focused on marketing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and earned his Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School.
