L3Harris Launches Australian Center of Excellence for Electronic Warfare Technology

L3Harris Technologies has opened its new Center of Excellence for Electronic Warfare in Queensland to design and manufacture EW technology for the Australian military.

The facility will also support the development of L3Harris’ space, intelligence and cyber products and the delivery of T4 and T7 robots to the Australian Defence Force under the Land-154 program, through which the company was awarded a $30 million contract to supply the machines for neutralizing improvised explosive devices.

According to L3Harris, the center of excellence will increase local manufacturing capabilities and create jobs focused on quantum sensing, robotics, secure communications and data management to reduce turnaround times.

The company currently employs over 550 people in 15 locations in Australia, working to provide the Royal Australian Air Force, Navy and Army with mission systems, communication systems and support services.

Australian officials, including Jennifer Howard, assistant minister for treasury, trade and investment for Queensland, attended the center’s launch.

“L3Harris’ new operations in Queensland will contribute to a vibrant and growing defence supply chain, with their investment helping them better support the needs of the Australian Defence Force and the Australian defence industry,” Howard said.
