The Australian government has appointed Abigail Bradshaw as the new director-general of the Australian Signals Directorate.
According to Defence Australia, Bradshaw brings experience in cybersecurity, intelligence and national security to her new role. She has been serving as deputy director-general of the ASD and head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre since March 2020, helping strengthen domestic and international cybersecurity partnerships, enhance collaboration between the government and industry, and fortify Australia’s cyber defenses.
Bradshaw’s background includes stints as deputy coordinator of the National Bushfire Recovery Agency at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and as the first chief risk officer at the Department of Home Affairs.
“At a time of increasingly complex geostrategic challenges, Ms. Bradshaw’s expertise in both cyber and national security matters will be critically important in leading ASD to continue protecting our nation,” Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.
Bradshaw succeeds Rachel Noble with a term beginning Sept. 6, pending Federal Executive Council approval.
