The U.S. Space Forces–Indo-Pacific Command has named Chief Master Sgt. Jason Childers as senior enlisted leader of the command. The component command, established in 2022 to manage military space operations in the region, is headquartered at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii.
Childers replaces CMSgt. Leomel Abueg, who is taking on a new role at Space Delta 2 headquartered at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado. According to the new senior enlisted leader, he will focus his energy on advancing the development of forces and mentorship.
On his first official day in the new role, Childers attended the first-ever change of command ceremony for U.S. Space Forces Korea, held in Osan on July 12.
“I’m absolutely honored for the privilege to serve in this role and to continue to be a team member and leader in the world’s greatest space force,” he said.
Childers’ space systems and operations experience started in 2008. Since then, he has held various roles in several space units, including chief of enlisted force development and senior enlisted advisor to the chief human capital officer.
