Germany has placed a new $1.2 billion order with Raytheon for additional Patriot air and missile defense systems, including Configuration 3+ command and control stations, launchers, radars, associated spares and support.
In a press release on Thursday, Tom Laliberty, president of land and air defense systems at Raytheon, said several nations depend on the Patriot system to address threats from adversaries due to the solution’s proven track record of defending against air and missile strikes.
As the only ground-based air and missile defense capable of countering advanced long-range cruise missiles, the Patriot has intercepted over 150 ballistic missiles in combat operations globally since 2015, many of which involved Raytheon-made Guidance Enhanced Missiles.
Governments have been turning to the missile system for years as Raytheon ensures that the Patriot comes with the latest technologies capable of defeating a wide range of threats. The missile defense system supports the air defense capabilities of 19 nations, including Taiwan, Ukraine and the United States.
