Commerce, California-based FDH Aero said it has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the city of Sacheon in South Korea to jointly support the country’s space exploration goals established under the Korea AeroSpace Administration.

Launched in May, the Sacheon-based KASA aims to accomplish moon and Mars landings in the next two decades and develop private space ventures, such as space mining and satellite data communication.

Under the MOU, FDH will provide consultancy services, including training programs, industry tours, and joint regional and global development projects.

Cody Ho, managing director for Asia Pacific at FDH Aero, conveyed the company’s commitment to support South Korea’s aerospace ambitions through the pact, effective immediately under a two-year term.

“Our operations in the region have seen tremendous growth in recent years, and we are committed to leveraging our knowledge and connections to foster industrial cooperation and establish a global supply chain for Korea’s aerospace and defense industry,” he said.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol announced during the KASA launch event that Seoul plans to invest $72.26 billion in the agency‘s goal of landing on the moon by 2032 and Mars by 2045, the Korea Times reported.

Seoul has also announced plans to undertake joint projects with other space organizations, such as NASA. In July, NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy visited South Korea and Japan to stress the role of international collaboration in space exploration.
