Reston, Virginia-based tech innovation company Leidos has appointed Simon Hutchings as vice president of its Logistics & Mission Support Division in the United Kingdom and Europe. Before his appointment, Hutchings served as Leidos UK’s director for strategy.
Leidos said Hutchings, a retired British Army major general, takes the role of managing director for the Logistics Commodities & Services Transformation program, which the company undertakes under contract with the Ministry of Defence. The company won the 13-year LCST contract valued at $8.1 billion in 2015 to deliver digital transformation services across the MoD’s supply chain systems spanning 600 global locations and handling 70,000 commodities.
Before joining Leidos, Hutchings spent more than 33 years in military service, including his last assignment as the MoD director for joint support, whose functions include handling end-to-end supply chain and logistic information system architecture.
Hutchings cited as his motivation the impact Leidos has had the MoD’s outsourced supply chain. “Leidos is well-adapted to the challenges it took on through LCST and has an ambition to export its know-how into other parts of the public sector’s supply chain,” he said.
The military recognitions Hutchings had earned include two citations as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire following his supply chain work achievements in Afghanistan and Iraq.
