Israeli defense company Elbit Systems announced that a European country has ordered its Artillery Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence solution. Under the C4I purchase order, Elbit will provide digital fires capabilities to the unnamed buyer’s 155 mm howitzer battalions through the integration of the company’s artillery suite featuring the Torch-X Fires solution and E-Lynx software-defined radios.
The multi-layer Torch-X Fires is an integrated solution incorporating technology based on Elbit’s C4ISR platform. Its industry-standard mature technology provides cross-force coordination, as well as rapid and precise operations from planning to execution of sensor-to-shooter capabilities.
The E-LynX SDR radios included in the contract complement Torch-X Fires’ full digital capabilities, Elbit said, noting that the equipment belongs to the latest iterations of tactical communication platforms designed for modern battlegrounds. The radios can provide quick, robust and secure communications, with simultaneous capabilities for voice, date and video in all terrains, the company added.
Haim Delmar, Elbit Systems C4I and cyber general manager, said the artillery C4I solution will enhance the effectiveness of the European buyer’s howitzer battalions by “increasing operational efficiency and maximizing the performance of artillery platforms through a fully digitalized process.”
In September 2023, Elbit announced receiving orders from an unidentified European country for the C4I platform and a Hostile Fire Counter Attack solution worth a total of $200 million.
