GM Defense has partnered with United Kingdom-based Jankel to provide defense, government and civilian customers with enhanced mobility solutions.
Under a memorandum of understanding signed by the two parties, GM and Jankel will modernize the mobility platforms of military customers in the United States, the U.K., Europe and select locations across the globe.
According to GM Defense President Steve duMont, the partnership will support the organization’s mission of meeting the needs of the UK Ministry of Defence’s Land Industrial Strategy program.
The companies will combine their expertise in developing and manufacturing armored vehicles that fit the specific security requirements of international military and nongovernmental organizations.
The collaborative effort will produce mobility solutions patterned after GM Defense’s heavy-duty sport utility vehicles and integrated armored vehicles, duMont said.
He added that the HD SUVs and IAVs will be engineered focusing on safety, reliability and maneuverability.
The partnership will also provide support for mobility platforms that will be deployed in the U.S., the U.K. and across Europe.
Jankel Chairman Andrew Jankel said the MOU serves as an opportunity for the U.K .company to reach more customers outside of its hometown and Europe.
