CAE inaugurated a fully equipped training center for NH90 NTH Sea Lion pilots at Nordholz Naval Airbase in Lower Saxony, Germany, on Monday.
According to CAE, the facility features several simulators, such as an operational flight trainer for pilots and co-pilots and two operational tactics trainers for the tactical coordinator and the rear crew. The training stations also feature two cockpit procedure trainers for targeted individual practice for pilots and tactical coordinators.
In November 2019, the NATO Support and Procurement Agency awarded a contract to CAE Elektronik to provide a comprehensive training solution for the German Navy on the Sea Lion. The service procured 18 NH90s for search and rescue missions and as a replacement for the Sea King MK41 helicopter that has been in use for more than 40 years.
Martin Seger, CAE Services managing director and director for customer and training services EMEA, cited the center as a demonstration of the company’s more than 60 years of commitment to the German Armed Forces’ mission readiness. Previous to the NH90 training center, CAE developed and delivered simulators for the Mk41 Sea King, Mk88A Sea Lynx onboard helicopter and the P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft for naval aviators training.
