Pratt & Whitney Canada, an RTX business, has launched new add-ons to its P&WCSMART engine overhaul program, specifically for military users of Bell 212 and Bell 412 helicopters with mature PT6T-3 or PT6T-6 Twinpac engines.
According to Irene Makris, Pratt & Whitney Canada vice president of customer service, the new additions to the P&WCSMART portfolio factor in the military customers’ mission and environment and offer predictable overhaul costs.
The company said its PT6 engines have logged over 1 billion flight hours since their introduction in 1963. The PT6T engine family’s contribution to the whole fleet totaled over 48 million hours.
In July, Pratt & Whitney Canada added three separate P&WCSMART offerings to PT6A-34AG operators: the flat rate overhaul program, propeller strike repair program and flat rate engine exchange, online aviation news website Asian Aviation reported.
