Canadian space technology solutions provider MDA is expanding its United Kingdom unit over the next 12 months.
The company, which announced the plan at the 2023 UK Space Conference in Belfast, is looking to hire 75 new employees, ranging from entry-level to senior positions. The recruitment effort will double MDA’s workforce in the country.
MDA UK Managing Director Anita Bernie said the U.K. is the ideal place for the company’s global expansion, citing its promising space sector and highly skilled workforce.
The U.K. expansion initiative also includes leasing a new facility in Stevenage and additional space on the Harwell Campus to increase the floor space of its Didcot facility.
The development marks the second time MDA made a significant investment in the U.K. In August, the space technology firm acquired satellite communication equipment company SatixFy Communication’s digital payload division for $40 million to increase its capability to manufacture satellite payloads.
