Lockheed Martin’s Derco Aerospace is working with Romanian company Aerostar to support the Romanian Air Force’s F-16 fleet.

The two companies signed an agreement requiring Derco to provide the needed tools, equipment, technical documentation and training for Aerostar to keep the RoAF’s F-16s ready for mission operations.

Under the deal, the U.S. company will deliver the technology solutions enabling Aerostar to repair the multirole fighter jet’s landing gear, wheels and brakes, according to Derco President and General Manager Todd Morar.

The partnership aims to reduce lead times and enhance logistics operations supporting Romania’s F-16 fleet, Lockheed said.

The Derco-Aerostar agreement was finalized following the inauguration of the first European F-16 Training Center at Fetești Air Base, in early November.

According to Lockheed, the facility’s establishment highlights its ongoing efforts to strengthen the southeastern European country’s aerospace and defense industry, promote technology transfer and generate high-skilled jobs.
