The United States and Singapore have launched a critical and emerging technology dialogue to advance their collaborative efforts on scientific innovations.
According to a joint statement on the White House website, the two parties will exchange knowledge and information through the forum to bolster their research partnerships, which involve active participation from the government, industry and university sectors.
The dialogue will also work on establishing a bilateral agreement to expand the existing technology cooperation between the U.S. and Singapore. Additionally, it will accelerate ongoing engagements in economic development, technology innovations and cybersecurity, the statement said.
The two countries expect the cooperation to support other economic, clean energy, trade and anti-corruption initiatives that aim to benefit the Indo-Pacific region.
The U.S.-Singapore tech dialogue and other cooperations will be built around artificial intelligence, digital economy and data governance, biotechnology, critical infrastructure and technology supply chains, defense innovation, and quantum information science and technology.
The allied nations believe that focusing their engagements on the key spaces aligns with their shared goals of achieving greater security and prosperity, the statement added.
The two sides vow to continue bilateral discussions on addressing risks, boosting economic resilience and creating trusted technology ecosystems.
