Textron Aviation Defense has delivered the eighth Beechcraft T-6C Texan II military training aircraft to the Tunisian Air Force under a Foreign Military Sales contract.
The aircraft arrived at Sfax Air Base following a one-month training of Tunisian pilots on the T-6C Texan II in the United States. Participants learned about flight controls, general handling and aerobatics and received instruction on instrument flying, navigation techniques and night flying procedures. The pilots also gained hands-on experience during the program’s flight training curriculum.
Speaking at an event marking the delivery of the first four Texan II units, Ambassador Joey Hood highlighted the U.S.’ commitment to support the African republic’s efforts to improve its air force capabilities in responding to security and humanitarian needs. He also noted the key role Tunisia plays in maintaining security in the continent.
Besides supplying military training aircraft, the Foreign Military Sales contract also requires Textron to deploy field service and logistics support representatives and provide program management support, pilot and maintenance training, and spare parts and support equipment.
