Mark Johnson, Oracle Public Sector SVP, Inducted Into 2018 Wash100 for His Leadership in Driving Federal Cloud Adoption

Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce Mark Johnson, senior vice president for Oracle‘s public sector business, an inductee into the 2017 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting arena — for achievement in driving federal cloud adoption.

Johnson oversees all aspects of sales and marketing of Oracle’s software products to federal, state and local government customers across North America. He joined Oracle in 1989 and has held several leadership roles over the years, including vice president of civilian sales, group vice president of federal sales and senior vice president of federal sales.

The IT sales veteran also serves on the executive advisory board of the Professional Services Council’s Technology Council, which is in charge of developing PSC’s positions on technology issues including cybersecurity, cloud computing, as-a-service acquisition and others.

Johnson was included in the 2014 Wash100 list for his leadership in public sector business development and again in 2015 for promoting federal cloud services and enterprise resource planning.

In April 2017, Johnson called on public sector agencies to adopt end-to-end security platforms to protect applications from cyber vulnerabilities, as well as align their requirements with cloud service providers before migrating to the cloud.

The Oracle executive noted at the company’s CloudWorld 2016 event in Washington, D.C. that 95 percent of the U.S. government’s IT systems are based on-premise and only approximately five percent is hosted in the cloud.

Oracle is working to consolidate and modernize those IT systems to help government customers achieve about 50 percent of application and sustainment cost savings, which could be reused for other IT efforts such as cloud initiatives, he said at the time.

Johnson also spoke at the Oracle Federal Forum 2016, where federal, state and local government officials held discussions with Oracle leaders on government IT issues such as cloud analytics, converged infrastructure, cybersecurity and human capital management.

Executive Mosaic offers its congratulations to Mark Johnson and the Oracle public sector team for their selection to receive this award.
