Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce Lisa Mascolo, a managing director at IBM‘s global business services arm, as an inductee into the 2018 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting arena — for excellence in cloud and analytics service offerings. This is her second time receiving the award.
Mascolo’s experience in the U.S. federal sector includes: executive vice president of government solutions at UnitedHealth Group; CEO of government services provider Optimos; and managing director of Accenture‘s U.S. federal client service group. At IBM, she is responsible for cloud, analytics, mobile, social and security offerings.
In September 2017, Mascolo’s IBM unit received a potential $135 million contract from the U.S. Army, to continue delivering cloud services, software development and cognitive computing support for their Logistics Support Activity. “We’re pleased to continue our work with the Army to demonstrate the viability of cloud for mission applications,” said Mascolo following the win. “LOGSA and the Army can now take advantage of the technological innovation that cloud offers – especially cognitive computing and analytics – so that [it] can continue to reap cost savings, further streamline operations and deliver services to clients.”
Last year, Mascolo lauded the Department of Veterans Affairs‘ decision to replace the VA’s electronic health records system with an EHR platform used by the Defense Department. “[The] VA’s actions point to the potential for health [information technology] and health data analytics to deliver the benefits of standardization, actionable insights and emerging cognitive capabilities to improve health outcomes,” she wrote in an opinion piece for FCW. “Hopefully, that path goes beyond being the start of better service for those who have served America so well and so ably through personal sacrifice. And, indeed, it might also be the harbinger of the government of the future,” Mascolo added.
