Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce Dave Abel, managing partner for the U.S. public sector at IBM‘s global business services segment, as an inductee into the 2016 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting arena.
He was appointed to the position in September 2014 and works with federal, state, and local government agencies as well as education and commercial healthcare clients to help them address their toughest mission challenges.
The IBM U.S. public sector services business unit helps clients protect the nation and serve the people. IBM employs cutting edge cognitive, mobile and cloud technologies to protect and prevent threats, improve social programs, engage citizens, and enhance cybersecurity.
Prior to his current role, he served as managing partner at the technology and consulting services firm’s GBS South Africa organization.
In the US, Abel initiated IBM’s homeland security practice working directly with component organizations on intelligence, risk assessment, and transactional systems for national security as well as balancing trade and security.
Abel also has co-hosted “The Business of Government Hour,” a weekly radio program on national security issues presented by IBM’s Center for the Business of Government and has sponsored the center’s research efforts as well as the company’s global leadership initiative.
He started his career at PwC as a principal consultant and later became a partner focused on transportation, technology and financial services industries.
Abel holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce and has been a guest speaker at The University of North Carolina’s Keenan School of Business and Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, SA.
