romeo_tom_wash100_2016Executive Mosaic is pleased to introduce Tom Romeo, general manager of the federal services segment at Maximus, as an inductee into the 2016 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting arena.

The more than 30-year information technology and government contracting industry veteran oversees business development and financial operations for Maximus.

In a February interview with ExecutiveBiz, Romeo cited the efforts of the General Services Administration’s 18F organization and the Department of Veterans Affairs to create citizen interactions with the government in similar ways seen in the commercial world through the use of technology.

He also discussed how agencies can implement lowest priced technically acceptable methods in the acquisition of information technology products and services.

“The key to striking the right balance between LPTA and value-based contracts is understanding the outcome you are looking for from the engagement and the types of resources that are required to get that outcome,” he said.

In an October 2015 interview with USA Today, he also acknowledged the new tools added by the Department of Health and Human Services to the health insurance exchange website HealthCare.gov as a step forward in connections between citizens and government.

“They are focused on making the experience more of a parallel to what people expect when they get on an Amazon.”

In October 2015, Maximus secured a potential five-year, $69.4 million contract to continue to provide oversight and operations support for a Social Security Administration program that aims to provide employment and vocational rehabilitation assistance to people with disabilities.

“Maximus has supported the Ticket to Work Program for 15 years and we are pleased to continue to provide SSA with the necessary support to sustain program operations and help meet the needs of beneficiaries and employers,” Romeo said.

Prior to Maximus, Romeo led health and human services operations as a senior executive at Accenture and also spent 25 years at IBM in leadership roles over areas of business such as healthcare, education and federal government.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Tom Romeo and the Maximus team for their selection to receive this award.
