Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce NCI CEO Brian Clark as an inductee into the 2016 Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of the most influential leaders in the government contracting arena.

Clark succeeded founder Charles Narang as chief executive in October 2015 after three years as president of the Reston, Va.-based company — a title he currently holds — and is also a former chief financial officer at the enterprise information technology services contractor.

NCI reported 2015 diluted earnings of 89 cents per share to top analyst expectations by 11 cents with revenue of $333.1 million to exceed Wall Street’s consensus forecast by $12.7 million and the company also surpassed the high end of its full-year guidance for both figures.

The company’s 2016 outlook forecasts continued growth with diluted earnings of between 86 cents and $1.00 per share and revenue in a range of $330 million-to-$354 million.

“Timing of awards of larger contracts will be a major factor in driving scale, operating leverage, and ultimately margin performance, especially in the second half of this year,” Clark told investors on Feb. 10 in a call to discuss 2015’s results and 2016’s outlook.

Clark also offered his outlook on the large-scale consolidation ongoing in the government services market that has included large deals such as Leidos‘ merger with Lockheed Martin‘s information technology segment and acquisitions by CACI International of the former L-3 Communications services unit and Science Applications International Corp. of Scitor, among others.

“You look around and see a lot of consolidation going on all around us, and I think that everybody in the space today is looking at which side of the conversation they need to be on: are they going to be a consolidator or are they going to be consolidated with somebody,” Clark said to investors.

“I think we’ll continue to see some more merger of equal type transactions or more significant transactions we’ve seen in the past.”

On NCI’s part, Clark said the company is looking at smaller deals to add a targeted capability but its “clear focus has been on looking at things that are much more significant needle moving.”
