Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce CIA Director John Brennan as an inductee into the 2016 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting arena.

He took the role in March 2013 and oversees intelligence collection and analysis, counterintelligence and covert operations at CIA.

Brennan said in October during a George Washington University-hosted panel discussion on national security issues that rapid technology proliferation has affected the efforts of the U.S. intelligence community to monitor cyber threat actors.

At the same GWU event, Brennan noted the reported hack of his private email account underscores that anyone can be vulnerable to cyber crime.

“One of the risks of being a public intelligence figure is you make yourself a target,” he was quoted as saying by CNN.

“We really have to evolve to deal with these new threats and challenges.”

Following the November terror attacks in Paris, he called on security and intelligence teams worldwide to collaborate to find potential terrorist activity and increase monitoring of border crossings.

Before he became the CIA director, Brennan served as assistant to the U.S. president and provided advice on counterterrorism and homeland security matters.

He started his federal career at the agency in 1980 and then left in 2005 to join the private sector, where he worked for three years before he returned to the government.
