Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce Nadia Short, a vice president and general manager at General Dynamics, as the newest inductee into the 2016 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting industry.

Short serves as VP and GM of the cyber systems line for General Dynamics Mission Systems — a business unit of the Falls Church, Va.-based defense contractor — and oversees the delivery of cybersecurity platforms that work to protect commercial enterprises’ networks and critical infrastructure from cyber threats.

In April, she told Reuters that General Dynamics will continue its government cyber business amid the acquisition of the Fidelis Cybersecurity Solutions business Marlin Equity Partners.

“[We] are continuing to invest resources in technology development to ensure we deliver resilient, relevant and innovative solutions that support mission needs,” Short said.

Three months prior to that interview, she told Reuters that the company aims to increase investments in the cybersecurity market amid the demand among U.S. government agencies for cyber tools that work to protect networks from insider threats.

The mission systems unit also is acting as a sponsor for the Mach37 Cyber Accelerator program as of December in an effort to help the business accelerator launch new cyber platforms and startups in Virginia.

“Mach37 gives us access to Virginia’s smartest minds and technologies, accelerating the delivery of cybersecurity products and solutions that our customers need, when they need it,” Short said of the business accelerator.

Short is a 20-year company veteran who spent nearly 15 years in the U.S. Army before she moved to General Dynamics in 1996.
