Balkissoon helped found the company in 2005 and holds responsibility over merger-and-acquisition strategies and market growth pursuits.

The Chantilly, Virginia-based contractor acquired aerial data collection technology developer Urban Robotics in May 2015 for a push to complement current innovation efforts at OGSystems’ VIPER Labs.

“We are all about rapid innovation and turning ideas into reality,” Balkissoon told ExecutiveBiz in a March 2015 interview.

“In the next five years, our vision is to be a pure-play, innovative geospatial data analytics platform.”

He said in May 2015 that OGSystems also will work to develop geospatial, and data science and cybersecurity tools for the defense and intelligence sectors through a partnership with investment firm General Catalyst that unlocked additional funds.

Prior to OGSystems’ start, he worked on software development and systems integration projects within the U.S. intelligence community and supported foreign weapons exploitation initiatives at the Office of Naval Intelligence.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Omar Balkissoon and the OGSystems team for their selection to receive this award.
