william-rowan_wash100_2016Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce Bill Rowan, vice president of federal sales at VMware, as the newest inductee into the Wash100 — a group of influential leaders in the government contracting arena.

Rowan manages a team of professionals who work with federal agencies to help implement cloud computing and virtualization technologies.

Prior to his current role, he oversaw the Palo Alto, Calif.-based software company’s sales activities in the U.S. defense and intelligence markets.

He talked to ExecutiveBiz in December 2014 about his views on the advent of open source architecture in the public sector market and data analytics collaborations between government and the private sector.

“We need to consider that government is concerned with its security posture, as well as the security accreditations needed before running applications,” Rowan said.

“However, at the same time, things are happening so fast that government may at times miss the opportunity to take advantage of these technologies because they are worried about that part of the equation.”

The more than 25-year industry veteran has previously held leadership roles at EMC, Storage Technology, MicroStrategy and IBM.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Bill Rowan and the VMware team for their selection to receive this award.
