Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce David Melcher, president and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association, a two time selectee, as the newest inductee into the 2016 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual influential leaders in the government contracting arena.

Founded in 1919, the Arlington, Va.-based AIA is a trade association that represents U.S. aerospace and defense contractors and seeks to give government and industry leaders a forum for dialogue on policies and issues that affect the sector.

Melcher was appointed to the top executive position at AIA in June 2015 after nearly four years as president and CEO of defense electronics manufacturer Exelis.

Military radio maker Harris Corp. purchased Exelis for $4.75 billion in cash and stock in May 2015.

He also led Exelis, the former defense business segment of ITT Corp., through its spinoff in late 2011.

While at Exelis, he served as a member of AIA’s executive and finance committees.
