Mike McCord, Defense Dept CFO, Inducted Into Wash100 for Military Budget Leadership

Executive Mosaic is honored to unveil Mike McCord, comptroller and chief financial officer at the Defense Department, as the newest inductee into the Wash100 — a group of influential leaders in the government contracting arena.

McCord acts as principal adviser to the defense secretary on fiscal matters and oversees the process to draft and carry out the annual DoD budget.

Last year, he addressed at the Potomac Officers Club’s summit on FY 2015 budget and procurement activities about the potential impacts of budget uncertainty on the government contracting community in relation to long-term defense initiatives.

He also called attention to delays in the congressional budget deal during an industry forum sponsored by TechAmerica in October.

“What I do worry about is that we’re looking at a ‘new normal’ where people think [a budget being approved] three months late isn’t a problem anymore,” he said.

McCord has been involved in various decision-making committees within DoD on program, budget, strategy and legislative issues and has worked 24 years with Congress on national security concerns earlier in his career.

He is a former member of the full committee staff for the subcommittee on readiness and management support under the Senate Armed Services Committee, where he worked on the management of military facilities, operation and maintenance funding oversight and defense budget reprogramming.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Mike McCord and the DoD team for their receipt of this award.
