Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce Joe Demarest, assistant director of the FBI‘s cyber division, as the newest inductee into the Wash100 — a group of influential leaders in the government contracting arena.
The 27-year FBI veteran took his current role in June 2012 and has investigated cases related to counterterrorism, foreign counterintelligence and criminal activity.
His FBI career includes work on the 9/11 and Bernard Madoff cases, both as a field agent and in supervisory positions at the FBI’s headquarters in Washington.
Demarest has led the FBI’s international operations division and other prior roles include an assistant director post in New York and acting section chief of the counterterrorism division’s international terrorism operations section at FBI headquarters.
He is a recipient of the Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service and the FBI Director’s Award for Excellence.
Demarest worked a brief stint in the private sector in 2008 as managing director for the Americas at Goldman Sachs‘ global security office.
