frank kendallExecutive Mosaic is honored to announce Frank Kendall, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics; as the newest inductee into the Wash 100, the premier group of leaders who create value for the American public and execute strategic vision at the intersection of the public and private sectors.

In his current role, Kendall leads the Defense Department’s efforts to increase its buying power and improve defense acquisition and is responsible for all matters related to acquisition, contract administration, the acquisition workforce and the defense industrial base.

The former 10-year active Army officer and distinguished West Point graduate brings more than 40 years of related experience across government, military and the private sector to his post and has consulted the Pentagon, defense firms and research organizations in the areas of strategic planning, engineering management, and technology assessment during his career.

Kendall began his current stint in government from a managing partner position with defense consultant Renaissance Strategic Advisors and was earlier responsible for internal R&D and management direction to Raytheon’s engineering functions as that contractor’s vice president of engineering.

He holds a graduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from California Institute of Technology and an MBA from the C.W. Post Center of Long Island University and spent some of his year on active duty teaching Engineering at West Point and holding research and development positions.

As under secretary he is also responsible for anything pertaining to research and engineering; developmental testing; logistics and materiel readiness; installations and environment; operational energy; and chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons.

Kendall earned his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center and is active as an attorney in the field of human rights. He has served on the board of directors of Amnesty International USA and served as chairman of the Tahrir Justice Center.

He earlier served as Principal Deputy Under Secretary from March 2010 to May 2012
