Steven Chabinski Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Steven Chabinsky, senior vice president of legal affairs and chief risk officer at CrowdStrike, as the newest inductee into the Wash 100, the premier group of leaders who create value for the American public and execute strategic vision at the intersection of the public and private sectors.

Chabinsky joined CrowdStrike in September 2012 from the highest-ranking civilian position in the FBI’s cyber division of deputy assistant director. In that role, he helped protect the U.S. from cyber attack, cyber espionage, internet fraud and online child exploitation by helping oversee all related FBI policy development, investigative strategies, major outreach efforts and intelligence analysis.

Chabinsky also served in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence between 2007 and 2009 in roles including Director of the Joint Interagency Cyber Task Force. He now advises across all areas of CrowdStrike on cyber legal, privacy and reputational issues.

In his letter introducing Chabinsky to employees, CrowdStrike President and CEO George Kurtz singled out Chabinsky’s work bridging efforts by the private and public sectors to share critical threat information, including his efforts developing InfraGard, a now-country-wide association of more than 50,000 individuals in the critical infrastructure sectors, into a national program.

”It will be a national security and law enforcement prerogative to involve the private sector in threat deterrence,” Chabinsky told the American Bar Association’s NatSec Law conference in 2012.

Chabinsky went on to add that the U.S. should allow the private sector to be more aggressive against cyber attackers.” Everyone knows you can’t win on defense,” Chabinsky said, noting that the country needs to right an imbalance where the U.S. “has the most capable, innovative private sector that is not involved in threat deterrence.”

Kurtz echoed these thoughts in his letter, writing that “pushing the envelope in ‘Offensive’ security or ‘Active Defense’ is the next key step in our industry’s evolution.”

Executive Mosaic extends its congratulations to Steve and the rest of the CrowdStrike organization.
