Buck McKeon

BuckMcKeonExecutive Mosaic is happy to unveil Buck McKeon, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, as the latest inductee into the Wash100, the premier group of leaders who drive growth and innovation at the intersection of the public and private sectors.

Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon is an 11-term Republican member of Congress who oversees the Defense Department and the U.S. armed forces, as well as parts of the Energy Department in his chairman role on the House Armed Services Committee.

McKeon has been in Congress for more than two decades where he has fought against spending cuts on defense programs and serves as a senior member of the House Education and Labor Committee.

Prior to being elected to Congress in 1992, McKeon sat on the Santa Clarita city council and was mayor.

He recently announced that he will not run for a twelfth term in Congress to represent his California district, just north of Los Angeles.

“The Congress, together with the Department of Defense and industry, must be willing to do the hard work to find root causes, look past Band-Aid fixes and parochial interests, and have the courage to implement meaningful, lasting reform,” McKeon said about acquisition reform.

“I’m not leaving the fight, … I will continue to speak for funding for our military, for the training that they need to give them the best chance to carry out their missions and return home safely,” he said about his retirement.

Executive Mosaic extends its congratulations to Buck McKeon for being a recipient of the Wash100 award.
