Mark BorkowskiExecutive Mosaic is glad to unveil Mark Borkowski, assistant commissioner for Customs and Border Protection’s office of technology innovation and acquisition, as the latest inductee into the Wash100, the premier group of leaders who drive growth and innovation at the intersection of the public and private sectors.

Borkowski is responsible for CBP’s acquisition and program management in his current role which he began in 2010.

He previously served as executive director of the program executive office overseeing the Department of Homeland Security‘s secure border initiative within CBP.

Prior to joining CBP, he served as NASA‘s program executive for the Robotic Lunar Exploration Program and Hubble Space Telescope robotic servicing.

Borkowski is a 23-year Air Force veteran and retired from the service as a colonel.

“Technology should be an enabler for making logistics simpler and less costly,” he said in an interview last year.

“In the past we’ve typically focused on technology as an enabler for doing the job better—the job being to see what’s going on. So we use cameras as long-range eyeballs; they’re better eyeballs. We use radars as long-range eyeballs,” he added.

Executive Mosaic extends its congratulations to Mark Borkowski and the rest of the CBP organization.
