WilliamSwansonExecutive Mosaic is glad to announce William Swanson, Raytheon chairman of the board of directors and retiring CEO, as the latest government official to be inducted into the Wash100, the premier group of leaders who execute strategic vision and create value for the American public at the intersection of the public and private sectors.

Swanson has been with Raytheon for 41 years and began his tenure as chief executive in early 2004.

He has served in many roles for the company including senior vice president and general manager of the missile systems division, president of electronic systems and chairman and CEO of Raytheon Systems Company.

“Under Bill’s leadership as CEO these past ten years, Raytheon has become a customer-focused leader in the aerospace and defense industry.  The Company has achieved a strong balance sheet, disciplined program execution, close alignment with customer interests, leadership in global defense markets and a reputation for sound governance and corporate responsibility,” said Vern Clark, lead director at Raytheon.

In a recent article about Middle East defense sales, Swanson said Raytheon wants to close $4-5 billion in contracts.

“Missile defense is something that is in demand in every place that I travel to,” he said in the article.

He is a recipient of the Navy League Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Award, the NDIA James Forrestal Industry Leadership Award, the John Dixon Award from the Association of the U.S. Army.

Executive Mosaic extends its congratulations to William Swanson and the rest of the Raytheon organization.
