Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Ed Casey, acting chief executive of Serco Group, as the newest inductee into the Washington 100, the premier group of leaders who drive innovation and execute strategic vision at the intersection of the public and private sectors.
Ed Casey joined Serco in 2006 after a career in investment banking that spanned almost a quarter century and saw him in leadership roles at some of the most successful companies in the industry.
Upon joining the leadership ranks of the North American arm of Serco, Casey had expansion on his mind and led the acquisitions of RCI in 2006 and SI International in 2008.
“[Since 2006] we have expanded our presence to now provide services to every branch of the U.S. military, numerous federal civilian agencies, the intelligence community, the Government of Canada and state and local governments across North America,” he told GovCon Exec.
Serco NA, a services company, has seen unprecedented growth under Casey’s leadership, which he says was only possible with the strong leadership team surrounding him.
“Our workforce has grown to surpass 9,000 people and our revenues have grown 122% to $1.2B,” he added.
Casey said Serco grew because of a reassessment of priorities and the identification of specific growth areas after the company acquired SI in December 2008.

This year in the U.S., Serco won a potential $1.2 billion contract to help manage health program applications for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and a potential $355 million management services contract from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Casey described both of these wins as milestone contracts and proof of Serco’s strong portfolio of offerings.
Casey now serves as acting CEO of Serco Group, which is the entire international company, spanning 35 countries and employing 120,000 people.
“We are currently working to shift our company culture to embrace a “One Serco” mindset. With this vision, we will bring together capabilities and services from around the world, allowing us to deliver best in class services and solutions,” he said.
Casey now finds himself in a leadership role that makes him one of the most powerful executives in the world and it is because of his exemplary performance as the leader of the U.S. arm that he was named to the role.
