U.S. and European defense contractors are looking to court acquisition dollars in the Middle East amid tight budget cuts and reduced defense spending in home markets, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.
Robert Wall writes Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar are among prospective buyers of the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet, Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale.
According to the report, the combat planes market in the Middle East could hit $10 billion potential in sales.
Wall quoted Boeing officials as saying the active campaign is intended to help maintain production lines stateside, even as the U.S. Navy mulls over whether to continue to buy the F/A-18.
