SAP Partners with Healthcare VC Firm to Support Disease Management IT

Posted by David Barton on September 10, 2013 in Blog | 60 Views

SAP AG has partnered with healthcare venture capital fund Inventages to integrate an IT framework into disease management mechanisms designed to support future personalized medicine companies.

The partnership will leverage London-based Inventages’ clinically validated products and SAP-engineered IT platforms and ecosystems to develop a personalized medicine solution able to manage diseases holistically, the Herald Online reported.

A holistic approach to preventing, diagnosing and treating a disease requires the use of several databases to effectively integrate patient medical history and genomics information with environmental and lifestyle factors.

“Inventages has been looking at personalized medicine for several years and consequently we recognize that the future of disease management needs to be holistic; all of the factors that influence a patient’s health need to be considered,” said Dr. Gunnar Weikert, chairman and managing partner at Inventages.

He added that the collaboration will also use SAP’s mobile, cloud and big data technologies.

Dr. Stean Sigg, SAP HANA senior vice president at SAP AG, said Inventages brings to the table its knowledge on how to design and run clinical trials, and how to navigate the regulatory and reimbursement landscapes.

“We are confident that this collaboration will help to identify and develop innovative healthcare solutions with the goal of improving people’s lives.”
